Research Strategy for North Simcoe Muskoka (NSM)
Mission
To become a national leader in research related to the implementation and evaluation of integrated models of care for older adults living with complex and chronic health conditions.
-
Identify academic and training opportunities for capacity building in research approaches relevant to IC (health services research, implementation science, participatory research).
Standardize our data collection methods to promote validity of evaluation and efficiency of research by developing a core indicator set for program evaluation.
Publish and present on integrated care projects in journals and venues that align with our priorities.
Continue to apply and secure for research grant funding to build on our existing research infrastructure.
-
Continue to strengthen research/operations partnership in program development and evaluation.
Identify team members with a research interest for participation in ongoing projects, conferences and training opportunities.
Develop and implement geriatric journal club for researchers and clinicians in the NSM region.
-
Initiate a research advisory committee for health research involving older adults in the NSM region.
Strengthen collaborations with Waypoint Research Institute and University of Toronto, as well as leaders in the health services and implementation science fields.
Explore further opportunities for participatory research in non-traditional, community-based programming.
-
Explore project-specific collaboration opportunities with knowledge mobilization experts at the Waypoint Research Institute.
Launch NSM geriatrics research website as a knowledge mobilization tool.
Explore opportunities to co-create knowledge sharing and mobilization strategies with community partners and other stakeholders.
What is integrated care?
Integrated care is defined as organizations that are working together and share common values and goals. They use models and methods of funding, administration, service delivery and clinical care to create cohesion, collaboration and alignment within and among the health and social sectors.
